Windows 10: HELP HELP HELP Since July 2018, Windows 10 updates are failing.

message reads: We couldn't finish installing updates.

Every 2nd day since July 2018, Windows 10 downloads an update and runs for hours, finally at the end since it cannot update it uninstalls the data it had downloaded. (Message do not shut down your computer) A very long process which I chose to be done after 11pm and before 5am. Sometimes the computer freezes and the only way out is to manually shut down the computer. This is very annoying and I cannot seem to find someone able to help. It was suggested I download Windows 10 on a USB key, then re-install it. I am completely lost. I have also,lost access to Windows Office nor Word as it is not recognize the license and I do not have a number as the programs were factory installed. I was also told that by re-installing Windows10 latest version, I could loose my photos and files and to make a backup.

Windows 10 Updates Help

Hi Simon,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

We would suggest you to initiate a check disc from the command prompt and check if it helps.

• Search for cmd, right click and run as administrator.
• This will open command prompt with admin privilege, now paste the below command:

CHKDSK /R /F

• Once the scan is complete, reboot the computer and check if it helps.

Windows will automatically check for updates and install it, if an update fails, you can get the information from view update history, which will give you more information about the failing update.
