Windows 10: Help! How can I turn off the chime noise every time the Microsoft News app gives me a...

I like the Microsoft News app in my start menu. I like the notifications. I absolutely loathe the chime I get with every news headline notifications. I learned no less than 3 times in 7 minutes that "White House presses for a vote on Kavanaugh". It's not the frequent updates, it's the CHIMES.


How do I turn off just the notification sound? I want the notifications to continue. I DO NOT WANT the notification SOUNDS.


I don't know what topic to post this under... "Performance & system failures" or "Microsoft Store". I will submit it under both.

Windows 10 makes a "Windows" chime noise several times/day

I've just received a new Lenovo laptop Thinkpad X1 with Windows 10. Several times a day, I'll be typing on my computer when I hear a chiming noise like I have a notification. (The chime sounds like a harp that strums from lower to higher pitched sounds.)
The focus is taken off the window I'm typing in and to keep typing I have to click in the program again. There are no other changes on the screen that I can see. Sometimes it will happen twice in one hour and other times it will only happen twice all day.

I have gone into Settings>Notifications & actions>Notifications and turned off "Show Me Tips about Windows," "Show App Notifications," "Show Alarms, Reminders..."

Could it be McAfee? Lenovo? Some other program?

If the notification sound has already been turned off but you still receive that chime randomly, then there's a possibility that the notifications you are receiving are from apps and other senders that has not been turned off.

For us to isolate this case, we would like to ask the following information:

• When do you get the notification?
• Do you get it when a new email arrives or if someone sends you a message in Skype, etc.?

To manage the notifications from other senders, follow the steps below:

• Go to Settings, then click System.
• Click on Notifications & actions.
• Under Get notifications from these senders, toggle Off
  the app that you don't want to receive any notification.

x6 making a chiming noise randomly

hi folks,

anyone know why or had experiance of their x6 making a chiming noise every now and again,



theres no set pattern and it happens round the clock ( its managed to wake me twice now)

phone is set to silent and have looked for any alerts or tone setting and cant see anything,

only way i can get it to stop is to turn it off which is annoying as i need it on for my job/work ( permenently on call for recovery work) only got the phone as its easier to carry around than a sat nav
