I'm in college trying to take an introductory database course, and in order to do that, I have to connect to a local sql server. I went to tools--> SQL Server--> and --> New Query in Visual Studio 2022 to create a new SQL Query, but was met with this error whenever I tried any of the local database instances: TITLE: Error ------------------------------ A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow re

    Help me understand SQL Server

While trying to understand intermittent freezes in my Windows 10 that require hard reboots to recover from I was looking at my event viewer trying to find the culprit. Although I have not yet narrowed down the problem (there are several different errors) I came across several events related to SQL Server "insufficient system memory in resource pool 'internal' to run this query". I'm running a quad core i5 machine with 8 gb of ram. Looking at my list of installed programs I notice that I have the following:

    SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition
SQL Server 2008 Setup Support Files
    SQL Server 2012 Native Client
    SQL Server 2014 Setup
    SQL Server 2014
    SQL Transact SQL Scriptdom
SQL Server Browser for SQL Server 2014

I've tried to read about exactly what SQL Server is and it's as clear as mud to me. Can someone help me understand what it is? Do I need to have all those versions installed? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Visual Basic, Can't open SQL ADODB database

I have Windows10 and Visual Studio 2015 free version. I am having an SQL problem. I have created an SQL database

with tables with server 2016 but am unable to get VB to open an ADODB database using any connection string.

The server name is MSSQLLocalDB and the database is connected . The same database is working with visual basic 2008 and sql server 2005 Express. I'm thinking that I need the Express version of any other server instead of the LocalDB version.

I mostly get this message: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Connect to SQL Server from Visual stusio

    Hello Yasir,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Read this carefully before you respond and please let me know if you have any questions. I feel I did not properly state my problem in the first place.

The link you sent me was not very helpful. Most of the comments there were to make sure my SQL services were running. In my case that was the first thing I did. and I still get the error. The other thing I want to make sure you understand is that I am not
trying to access SQL Server from a remote computer, so I am assuming all the comments about TCP/IP don't relate to this problem.
I am working on a single computer on which I have installed SQL Server 2017, SQL Server Management Studio 2017(SSMS) and Visual studio 2017. I can access my SQL Server Instance from SSMS, no
problem. My problem is then to connect with this instance from within Visual Studio, which is where I am working on a C# program to access this data from SQL Server. I cannot do this unless I can first
make a connection to SQL Server. When I attempt to make that connection I get the error. I expect when I make this connection that I will see the SQL server and my data tables displayed in the Server Explorer in Visual studio. I cannot get to that point because
of this error. Once I have that problem solved, I can make my connection to the server from within my Visual Studio C# program
