Windows 10: Help i made mail client default open with when click on mail link

Help how do i change this back as i inadvertently clicked the box that popped up and forgot to uncheck make default open with for all email links, now when i click on a link it opens mail on win ten, how to change that help appreciated please.

Mail refuses to establish itself as default app

I can confirm grassBlades findings, although I took it a step further. I was sure that the Mail app would not and could not be invoked when using the right-click Send to...Mail recipient function, but Frederik Long's advice to the contrary made me go back
and check. I use Thunderbird as my default mail client, and just to make sure, I uninstalled it so that the Mail app is the only mail client present in my system. I set Mail as the default email handler:





I then (a) confirmed that clicking on an email link or web page would indeed invoke the Mail app. I then tried right-clicking on a file and choosing Send to...Mail recipient and got the expected response:



The Mail app will be recognized and invoked as the default mail client when clicking on email links, but not when using the right-click Send to function. I don't know whether this is by design or not, but it's been this way since the beginning of Windows
10. It doesn't make any sense that it would work in some circumstances but not others, but there you have it.

 

Message when I click the "read mail" icon that "the default mail client is not installed"

When I try to open mail by clicking on the "read mail" button at the top of Internet Explorer 11, I get an error message of "cannot perform this operation because the default mail client is not installed"

Anyone now how to change this so it always ask me what i want to do when i click on said mail links???

 

Launch regedit
answer yes to UAC prompt

Start from the top of the tree (Computer)
and Find (Ctrl+F) .eml

This should be the first key found: HKEY_Classes_Root\.eml
dbl click the (Default) value in the right pane,
remove the application name from the text box
press ok
press X to close regedit
