    Hello!I really messed up!I was having trouble installing a program on "Program Files" so I decided to run "Take Ownership" on it.It ran for a while before I stopped it, but the damage was done.A lot of my personal files pictures, videos, word and xlsx docs were deleted in the process, somehow.Already did "system restore" to two days ago and those files were not restored.What can I do?!?Thank you for the helpNuno T

    C windows installer folder - Delete?

    He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Help! I used "Take Ownership" on "C:\Program Files" folder and it deleted a lot of my... ;)
    Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
    First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
    Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

    Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

    Code: ICACLS D:\anime /remove:d username /C ICACLS D:\anime /grant username:F /C erase D:\anime[/quote] It's been years since I touched access lists but the above should work from either your own username or as administrator. If not, you can start in safe mode and modify the folder ownership.
