Windows 10: Help identifying DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE cause

Hello,I've been having some BSOD issues for a while now on my laptop Asus ROG G771JMC, running Windows 8.1. They're seemingly at random and the reason listed is always DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE . I haven't been able to identify the cause, and I'd like to try and prevent them from happening. However, please let us know:

• When exactly do you receive the Blue Screen error?
  
• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?

The DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error occurs when the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state. You may want to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the Remarks section of the
article Bug Check 0x9F: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
and see if that helps.



Note: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting
from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

BSOD- nt_wrong_symbols.sys DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

I've been getting a BSOD every time I try to play certain games (IE: Fallout 4, sometimes Sims 4, where others (Overwatch, State of Decay, etc) work perfectly)

According to who crashed:

On Sun 1/7/2018 8:27:59 PM your computer crashed or a problem was reported

crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\010718-9750-01.dmp

This was probably caused by the following module: nt_wrong_symbols.sys (nt_wrong_symbols)

Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0xFFFFAA0BC8DA0060, 0xFFFFF80394D0A7F0, 0xFFFFAA0BCBAEBB80)

Error: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

Bug check description: This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state. A device object has been blocking an IRP for too long a time.

This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem.

A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nt_wrong_symbols.sys .
