Windows 10: Help Locking PC monitor off on off problem

    Help Locking PC monitor off on off problem


    When i lock my Win 10 PC using Windows key + L , it goes to the lock screen as normal then after a minute the monitor turns off to standby. Shortly later the screens powers back up to the lockscreen login prompt before going back to standby and it not happening again.

    My question is what is causing this? Monitor, Mouse, Graphics card? Something must be pinging the screen to wake up?

    How do i narrow it down and fix it?

    Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??

    I suggest you to change the settings to Extended Monitor and check if it helps.

    Please follow below steps:

    • Right Click any ware of the Desktop, and launch Personalization.
    • Go to dual monitor settings under personalization, and change it Extended Monitor.

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    • What changes did you make in the BIOS? As making the changes in the BIOS is only recommended by Microsoft if done by the manufacturer.
    • How are you connecting to the 2nd monitor?
