Windows 10: Help! My computer does not display Ports COM & LPT in Device Manager!

Please, attempt to answer this question only if you know the answer, and you've made the assumption that I've exhausted all known attempts at a solution. That means that I've already went to:Action > Add Legacy Hardware > [started the Wizard] > Install the hardware that I manually select from a list > Ports COM & LPT > Standard Port Types > Communications Port.Note: make sure you highlight a field; any field, such as System Devices or Computer, or you will not see "Add Legacy Hardware"When I do this I get the error 36, telling me to install the driver software that

Unable to find USB Serial Port (Ports COM & LPT) in Device Manager Windows 11

After updating to Windows 11 I can no longer get the serial port in Ports COM & LPT from the Device Manager.

When I select Device Manager nothing shows up, I cannot see Ports COM & LPT.

These are the steps I have tried:

IN DEVICE MANAGER

• View: Show hidden devices in Device Manager (nothing happens)
  
• Scan for hardware changes
  
• Action: Add legacy hardware. Used both search recommended and add manually.
  
• When trying to add Communication Port: "Windows cannot determine the settings from this device". Does not work and have a yellow warning sign. When adding legacy hardware next time it is uninstalled since it says it does not work.
  
• When trying to add Serial Port: "The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance".
  

WINDOWS UPDATE

Making sure all updates are done (both software and hardware)

My system

• Windows 11
  
• HP Pavilion Laptop

I suggest you follow the steps to check for hidden devices, and check if it helps.

1.Press Windows + X and click on Device Manager.

2.Click on View menu and select Show hidden devices. See if this helps in getting the ports to list.

3. Expand the Ports under device manager. Uninstall any entries which appear grayed out, then restart.

4. Right-click your computer name in Device Manager and click Scan for hardware changes. Device manager scans your system and automatically reinstalls your device.

If the issue persists, then I recommend you to install the latest drivers for your motherboard.

PORTS (COM & LPT) is not displayed in Windows 10

Hi

PORTS (COM & LPT) is not appearing in my Device Manager in Windows 10. I followed these steps:

1. Connect the USB.
2. Open Device Manager.
3. Click on Action.
4. Select Add legacy hardware.
5. Click on Next.
6. Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced),
   then click Next.
7. Scroll down, then select Ports (COM & LPT), and then click
   Next.
8. Select Manufacturer as your need, (in this case, select the standard type or default option), and then click
   Next.
9. Click Finish.

The problem is what manufacturer AND MODEL should I select? I tried some models but I get an error.
