Windows 10: Help! My PC isn't detecting my headphones and microphones!

Okay, lets start.


So last week I decided to do some cable management and adding some sweet RGB strips into my PC. A while after installation, say a day or two, I notice my Front Panel audio and microphone ports aren't playing back any sound or recording anything. I followed tutorials on how to fix this, but none of them fixed the problem. I even ended up resetting my PC, and still ended up with the Sound Panel saying Headphones: Not plugged in and Microphone: Not plugged in, despite them both being plugged in


I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me this problem


PC Specs:


CPU - Ryzen 7 2700

Motherboard - AsRock B450 Pro4

Memory - 2 x 8GB DDR4-3000 Memory by Team T-FORCE VULCAN Z

Storage - 240 A400 240 Gb 2.5" SSD and 1TB WD Caviar Blue 3.5" 7200 RPM HDD

Graphics Card - XFX Radeon RX VEGA 56 8GB

PSU - Corsair RMx 2018 750 W 80+ Gold Modular PSU

Wireless Network Adaptor Asus PCE-AC55BT B1 PCIe x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter

Microphone detected as headphone

Hi, thanks for the reply. Here are my answers.

1. Yes I have tried the SF-666 condenser mic plugged directly into the pc socket. (No adapter)

2. See above.

3. This is a standard mic that worked with Windows 8.1 and other OS's.

4. Yes I have also tried reinstalling it too, still detects as headphones (Not mic)

PC: Asus X551CA notebook. 1 smart headphone/microphone socket.

Microphone on Headphones Not Detected (Windows 10)

I have the Astro A10 Headphones, which come with a microphone.

I have done a couple things to try and find the microphone, but it does not show up anywhere, as if the headphones don't have a microphone at all.

I've tried looking in the Recording tab of Sound on the volume mixer (I clicked on Show Disabled/Disconnected devices).

I've also tried looking in Device Manager under Audio Inputs and outputs.

These headphones are in perfect working condition but the microphone on them is not detected at all. In fact, I've had this problem across all headphones that have a built-in microphone. They are never, ever, detected anywhere, on the system.

Please help... My laptop's built in microphone is good, but it picks up the sound of my keyboard and mouse, as well as generally everything, too loudly.

It would be much better to use my headphone's microphone.

I gave you many steps to force the headset microphone to show up. They would take more than an hour to perform, plus the way a forums works is interactively so we don't just give up after the first post but use feedback about your results to suggest more
steps.
