Help needed! Debugging a very strange bug - browser related, but wait

System information: W10 Pro, 10.0.19042 (the behavior appeared a few months back over multiple updates).
    Dell XPS 15 9579

I am not sure where to post that, so please humor me.

Over the last few months (6-8?), an online shop started to show some strange behavior. (The name of the site is not important at this point).

Practically speaking, this online platform would ask you to confirm that you have received your goods and/or allow for reporting problems, or send questions to the seller.

A few months back, clicking on the button for confirming reception would tell me:

    The page isnt redirecting properly

An error occurred during a connection to secure.fnac.com.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
I am using firefox, so I tried to qualify the behavior by using IE11 or Edge. While I am using quite a lot of privacy add-ons and set-up on Firefox, I keep IE11 and Edge quite open and unprotected. Same

So... I tried many things, including:

    - Changing the cookies policy (accept all cookies...)
    - Clearing the cookies (Edge recommends this)
    - Firefox: restart in safe mode (no add-on)
    - disable the anti-virus/firewall
    - a combination of the above
    - you name it (I want to limit my post).

Technical Support of the site would not even understand (after a lengthy phone call, one guy recommended I use a computer instead of a phone).

Until... I tried again from an Mac airbook (MacOS something recent) or my previous XPS 15 (W8 Pro, up-to-date). And... no issue.

So... I can use any of these computers to confirm reception of the goods or report problems or whatever. But I suspect the cross browser issue might impact something else.

I do not know where to start to qualify further. There might be some set-up somewhere which is impacting this specific behavior.

FYI: an exemple of a link which would result in an error is (which a few names changed) is as bellow. Mostly parameter passing, one of the parameter being the purchase order, and asking for some computation and a page redirection (which fails)

Please let me know if you have suggestion

    G.

    :)

Ethernet is showing as Kernel Debug Network Adapater

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you see Kernel Debug Network Adapter in Device Manager. This can happen if debugging is turner on. I would suggest you to turn off debugging by following the steps mentioned below:

    1. Type command prompt in the search bar on the
      Taskbar.
    2. Right click on the command prompt icon and select
      Run as administrator.
    3. Paste the following commands and hit Enter:

      bcdedit /debug off

If you still see the Network Adapter, you can disable it from Device Manager without problems. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows Logo key + X, to open
      Device Manager.
    2. Expand Network adapters.
    3. Now, right click on the Kernel Debug adapter and select
      Disable device.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

  3. Unable to set default browser

    • Does this issue happens while you try to set other browser as default too or is it specific to specific browser?

    Any browser.

Already did the steps you suggested. It's some kind of bug where it's impossible to set a default browser at all.

I heard elsewhere from one other user
that it seems to be a problem with upgrading to 10 on the SP3. Sounds very specifc.

    Debug 430

    Hi PoolsilpPanpakdeedisakul

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

This is a known bug at the moment in all the Chromium based browsers, that file is no harm, it just contains debug information from your browser, this file can be created by any web browser that is based on the Chromium engine, like Edge, Blade . . . etc.

There is currently no fix for this for Edge, however, because there are so many reports regarding this Debig.log file appearing on the Desktop, there should be a patch for the Chromium Engine released shortly, so the best option is to wait until that is updated
    . . .
