Hi, My machine started to hang and then constantly reset and attempt to reboot about a week ago.I have checked and reseated memory CPU, Graphics board etc and booted with no connections other than keyboard, mouse and Wireless Adapter but still get the same issue. If I don't physically disconnect the power to the box it keeps happening each time I try to power it up. If I disconnect the power and leave it for a few minutes I can get anything from 10 minutes to an hour or so before it shuts down again. When it does the power supply usually clicks a couple of times before booting up.My BIOS wa

    Directx 9c games

Ive been trying to compile a list of games which require or can use 9c features but my list is pretty limited. HDR using a 9b path dont count. So that rules out the hl2 series/stalker etc.

    So far i have

    Rainbow Six: Vegas
    Colin Mcrae: DiRT
    Splinter Cell: Double Agent
    Spiderman 3
    MOH: Airborne
    Kane and Lynch Dead men
    Gears of War
    Company of Heroes
    Call of Juarez
    Flight Simulator X
    Farcry
    Hellgate London
    Crysis
    Oblivion
    CoH

Also, games with directx 10 capability, we will assume require 9c since theres no way to tell.

    Thanks for any help.

Intermiddent BSoD caused by Intelppm.sys. Error: Machine Check Exception: bug check 9c

Hi and thanks for reaching out. My name is William. I'm a Windows technical expert. I'll be happy to help you out today.

I have examined your dumps. They are all of the same stop code: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION (9c). The stack back trace on the active thread points to intelppm.sys in the frame entry but that is not the cause, more a symptom, as it is driver for the Intel processor.

There is nothing remarkable with regards to the active thread itself; I dumped it out and do not see any 3rd party components. The same goes for the other cores on the processor, all Microsoft kernel functions.

Normally, MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION (9c) is almost always a hardware issue. But I dont believe that is actually the case here. Memory blocks look intact, none are reporting errors.

That said, something you noted may elude to the cause. This game developer and this game itself I have seen before in previous crash dumps I have looked at. MiHoYo includes a driver called unifairy.sys with their games, which I believe is an anti-cheat component
of their titles. This is well-known to result in BSOD and I suspect this is the cause of your issue. I don't know if it can be mitigated but you may want to check out this link as it provides some information on disabling unifairy:
