  2. Wipe all personal data from a laptop bfore selling.

    Hi Nickolay,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being part of Windows 10.

I understand your concern about erasing all the user data before selling your device, we will help you with this issue.

I would like to inform that if you wish to sell your device with Windows 10 operating system installed, you can perform clean installation of Windows 10 ad proceed.

If you wish to sell your device with Windows 8.1, I suggest you to perform
Reset your PC to Factory Settings
    as this will

    • Removes apps and drivers you installed.

    • Removes changes you made to settings.

    • Reinstalls any apps your PC manufacturer installed on your PC.
    • Reinstalls the version of Windows that your PC came with (either Windows 8 or
Windows 8.1) and removes your personal files.

Before performing any of those, it is recommended to take a backup of all your content on the current operating system.

To reset your current operating system to factory settings refer to the section:
Restore factory settings from Recovery options in Windows 10

Also, refer to Go back to your previous version of Windows
from the article and check if it helps.

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of this issue for further assistance.

Reinstalling Windows 10 to sell a PC - is the 'Remove everything' option enough?

Restore factory settings do list Removes your personal files, apps and settings, and reinstalls the version of Windows that came on this PC.

So if this isn't true well than just erase the drive and install a clean Windows 10 with all the drivers u need but why should it be true

URGENT: How to WIPE HDDs before Selling my PC

I have 2x 500gb HDDs in RAID 0 and 1x SSD with windows 7 installed on it.

Is there a way to completly WIPE my hard drives WITHIN windows (since windows is not on my HDDs but on my SSD?

    What about my SSD?
It's only got Windows 7 on it with NO personal data. Can I just sell my PC and keep my SSD as is ?
Or should I wipe it as well?

Any EASY way to do this as I'm not an expert on Formatting and Wiping drives
