Windows 10: Help needed: Something keeps on overriding my nvidia display/color settings.

Each time I change my display settings on nvidia, it stays for a few seconds, then gets overrided by a setting that adds a ton of contrast to my screen. I think this is a Windows setting, but I have no idea what it is or where to disable it. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you!

Color Calibration and gamma settings keep resetting !!!

Hi John,



Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



Since when are you facing this issue?



One of the possible reasons for this behavior is that graphics drivers haven’t been updated and the manufacturer hasn’t released any updates for the graphics card recently. However, we can try some steps and see if we can
get it to work.



Method 1: Disable Game Bar

Windows 10 Game Bar is aimed to enhance the gaming experience for game players, it could sometimes break the color calibration and ICC color profile.

Go to Settings->Gaming->Game bar.

Turn off Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar.



Method 2: Turn off Night Light

Go to settings->System->Display.

Under Color, toggle the Night light switch to off position.



Method 3: Install older version of NVidia graphics driver

Rollback the NVidia graphics driver (to older version) and see if the calibration settings can be set using the NVidia control panel.

Color bit depth is at 6-bit on Display properties of Windows 10 pro

Try the below suggested steps and check if the suggested options are available to change the Color bit Depth value

1. Right click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
2. Expand the Display, and then highlight the Change resolution.
3. On the right side, check if there is 8 bpc listed under
   Output color depth.
4. You may select 8 bpc and restart the device to witness the changes.

Windows 10 Accent color keeps resetting to orange

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft community. I am glad to assist you.

I would suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps:


Follow the steps below to disable the orange color:

1. Go to Personalize settings.

2. Select Color.

3. Click on “Go to high contrast color settings”.

4. Click/tap on a color you want to choose for the text.

5. Close the settings.

I suggest you to update the display drivers
from manufacturer website and check if it resolves the issue.

1. Press Windows Key + X and
Open Device manager.

2. Expand ‘Display Adapter’.

3. Locate the display driver.

4. Right-click on the display card listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’.
