Windows 10: [HELP] Nvidia GT630m problem

Wouldn't changing to only dedicated graphics be the way to test? If it boots, then the GPU is not dead?

Im not sure i quite understand the logic behind this. Disabling dedicated graphics will only tell us that, if it boots, the onboard graphics works?

 

I had a lot of issues with my GT-540M on multiple Windows builds, it just would not work. Now it works like a charm again. I am almost certain there is something in the current Windows builds that interfere with the drivers. Most likely a combination of Windows internal compatibility glitches, NVidia driver compatibility glitches and Intel graphics driver compatibility glitches. Put all those 3 glitches together and something always stops working, and sometimes you even get HDD corruptions because of this. Not sure why that happens, but that is very normal when OS gets that unstable.

I meant to say try disabling onboard GPU in the BIOS and enable dedicated only.

I also think it has something to do with the current Windows 10 Build that you are using. Try using Build 1511.

 

Microsoft just released a new NVidia Driver (v 21.21.13.7654 ). Works great for me. You should try it too to see if it helps.

Yes, if you have a CPU with Intel HD graphics this switch does not exist in the BIOS. The Dedicated GPU needs the CPU Graphics SUB-System in order to work at all. If you turn off all graphics support from the CPU, you will end up having a blank screen. I've tried this too on my computer, and it was no fun. :-D

Could try doing it from Nvidia Control panel, only choosing dedicated and try playing a game or something?

But yeah. Probably the Windows build and combination of current drivers available. Sad really...

I tried several methods and don't get success. So i remember after i install first builds of win 10, i'm getting VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE nvlddmkm.sys bsod. But now i can't open nvidia control pannel now and i can to know if was a method to change core and memory clock?

 

You can try either installing the newest driver from Nvidia or deleting and reinstalling your current driver. Either SHOULD bring back a serviceable Nvidia Control Panel.

 

There is only one sensible suggestion now and that is to re-install Windows 10 and let Windows Updates get on with updating your Graphics system on your Laptop.
It should automatically install the Intel HD and Nvidia drivers in the correct order.

That has worked on my Intel HD graphics and GT740M Optimus Laptop for over 3 years during Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

The video you reference is out of date and you are unlikely to get an Nvidia Control Panel like that, it's not on mine, fewer options.

Ignore suggestions from Desktop graphics card users they don't realise the more limited options of Nvidia Optimus systems.
