Windows 10: Help please, I broke my install. Build 2004

Windows update kept failing on me and causing every startup to end with Update Failed. I googled the KB article which said my system reserved (EFI) partition could be too small. My EFI partition was 79mb for some reason (I hadn't touched it, so I don't know why).

I used EaseUS to move the Windows partition to the right to reserve some space to expand my EFI partition.

This is where my PC failed to boot, and Automatic repair failed. I created a Win 2004 bootable USB drive and tried to follow instructions and follow ups from:

This resulted in "Access denied", so I tried BillyBigun's solution:

Which did not fix my issue.

I then tried step 3:

At this point, Bootrec /rebuildbcd resulted in finding 0 windows installations. So I tried following the steps from below:

At the "attrib c:\boot\bcd -h -r -s" step, I got an error that C:\boot could not be found, tried following some additional steps, but at "bcdboot c:\windows (file:///c:/windows) /s c:" it simply did nothing.

Throughout all these steps I was ensuring the correct drive letters were being used.

I then deleted and recreated the EFI partition using diskpart, this time as 500mb, and at this point re-tried all of the previous steps. All separately of course, and with no success.

Finally, I ran steps 4&5:

No success. I also booted installation media for Win build 2004 to try and upgrade to salvage files and programs, but it said an upgrade can only be performed from within Windows.

So that's it - do I need to call it a day, transfer my files, and do a clean install? Is there any other way? I have an Outlook profile with tens of thousands of emails in their own separate folders, many drafts, can these be recovered?

P.S. Dunno if it could have helped, but I didn't have system restore points because I'm a moron.

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

Might I suggest you simply build a computer, making notes and taking pictures step by step. Most people (probably including your teacher) have no idea even where to start building a computer. You'll do fine, and if you get stuck we're here to help ya out! *Toast :toast:
