  1. Help Please! Triple-Monitor Setup - windows & icons on second screen won't stay where I...

    Detailed Problem Description:

I have 3 monitors connected to my PC. Two are normal monitors on my desk, and the third is my TV which is about 6 feet away from my desk. I'll refer to the two monitors on my desk as 1 and 3, and my TV as 2.

Monitor 1 (desk-primary), and Monitor 2 (tv) are set to mirror. Both are running at 1920x1080. Display/Interface scaling is set to 100% in Windows for all monitors.

Here's a rough diagram to help with orientation: https://i.imgur.com/Hqx935Y.png

When i'm launching full-screen applications on my primary screen (Monitors 1 & 2), the contents of Monitor 3 (desk-secondary) will jump around for a moment, and the orientation of the windows will be askew. If I tab out of the full-screen application the window positions on Monitor 3 will usually reset to where I want them (or close to where I want them).

This always happens when launching an application or a game in Full-Screen mode. Some games even seem to trigger Windows to increase UI scaling when the game is running in full screen mode, and when the UI scale is changed at the same time as the application launching in full screen, it makes the contents of Monitor 3 become even more disorganized.

    • Monitor 1 (desk-primary) is connected to the PC via an HDMI cable connected to an HDMI-to-Display Port adapter.

    • Monitor 2 (tv-primary) is connected to the PC via an HDMI cable.

    • Monitor 3 (desk-secondary) is connected to the PC with a DVI cable connected to a DVI-to-Display Port adapter.

    • The PC has an EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 - here's an image of the ports: https://i.imgur.com/HcChsdE.jpg

I have swapped the cables/connection types between Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 without any change. Monitor 3 only has DVI connection available (it's older).

I've been dealing with this for a long time, and occasionally reach out to the internet to see if anyone has experienced similar problems or found solutions. The problem has been present since moving to Win10, and I have experienced the same treatment on two different PCs running win10 with the same monitor configurations. Previous PCs running win 7 and 8.x did not present the same problems.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How to stop all the main screen icons moving to second monitor (Windows10) ?

    Hi,

This can be a default when opening a game to maximize the functionality of having two monitors. To clarify the issue, we need additional information:

    • When you close the game, do the icons go back to the main display or does it stays on the second monitor?
    • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

We'll keep an eye out on your response.

  3. Second monitor is detected but won't visually show anything

So I just recently bought a second monitor and for some reason I can't get it to show anything but a black screen. When I try extended screen I'm able to move my mouse over to the second monitor, the computer recognizes that it's there, the monitor turns
on, but the monitor just has a black screen and won't show anything. When I turn the monitor on and off it will start on blue like my first monitor, but then will say no signal and just stay orange.

    Any suggestions?

Double Monitor Setup is not connecting

    Hi Yuri,

To setup dual monitors, I suggest you to press Windows + P keys
and select Extend or the required option and check for status. If you are still unable to setup dual monitor, suggest you to update the Display Adapter driver by following the steps provided below and check for status.

    • Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Display Adapters.
    • Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to update the driver.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.
