    HELP! Prefetch folder in C:\Windows


    I was messing around with the folder trying to delete certain files from showing up in the last activity view and somehow I stopped the folder from working and prefetching data from everything. I was messing with Registry as well and editing things like Prefetch and Superfetch Parameter and putting them on 3 so they collect data from everything, but somehow the Prefetch folder is not working at all, its only showing me files from like 2 3 weeks ago when I was editing it. After trying to fix it by deleting all the files from the folder, yeah I know Im dumb and rebooting PC, everything is ju

    C windows installer folder - Delete?

    He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink HELP! Prefetch folder in C:\Windows ;)
    Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
    First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
    Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

    Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

    C:\Windows\Prefetch is corrupt and unreadable

    How do you know your prefetch folder is corrupt?

    To fix this issue, simply delete the contents of the Prefetch folder . . .

    Note: your first few boots may me a bit slow until Windows rebuilds the Prefetch file systm
