Windows 10: Help preventing regular Crash to Desktop when playing certain games?

I have in the last week or so been experiencing regular crashes to desktop from certain games, for example Dark Souls 3. After attempting several fix recommendations running sfc /scannow, DISM restorehealth, and even fully reinstalling windows 10 I am still faced with the same issues. I first suspected it was a driver issue but reverting to a Dec 2023 driver for my NVIDIA 2070 has not stopped the issue. I was told to try and uninstall and reinstall dll files associated with another game but I ran into an issue where the DllUnregisterServer entry point couldn't be found. I don't know if this

Are they just random crashes? Or do they most commonly occur 5 minutes into playing a certain game?

I have the identical issue as OP despite different hardware. Certain games crash within a few minutes while others are fine. Games that crash include Guardians of the Galaxy and Assassins Creed Origins.

I'm using a AORUS GeForce RTX™ 3080 XTREME 10G (rev. 2.0) and the Event Viewer message is identical, except instead of Device\Video3 is says Device\Video9.

I'm using 516.40 drivers and have already done a DDU. My next step is another DDU followed by year old drivers (466.47) listed on the AORUS GeForce RTX™ 3080 XTREME 10G (rev. 2.0) website. I don't see any VBIOS for the rev 2.0 version of the card.

I can provide DXDIAG, MSCONFIG, or anything you think could help to diagnose this.

 

Crashing when playing certain games.

Just going through things step by step to make sure I've done them all.
Entered powercfg -h off, but there wasn't any confirmation etc so unsure if this worked.

Other conversations led me to believe that it was a RAM issue, so I have since upgraded my RAM but the issues persist. I've also tried changing ram slots, loading only one ram stick etc as suggested in previous posts.

At the time I had not been overclocking, but the problem persists whether I'm overclocked or not - so currently running with A-XMP profile 1 enabled (msi b450 gaming plus max mobo). I also currently have "precision boost overdrive" enabled, but didn't at the time of crashes.

My main issue now is severe stuttering in games (not the game alone, but the entire pc itself freezes for a split second.) If this is no longer a suitable forum for my topic please let me know and I can move it!
