Windows 10: Help Required: Windows Update Stuck and Dual Boot Issue

Dear Windows Community,I hope this message finds you well. I am currently facing an issue with my Windows system after a recent update attempt.Upon restarting my computer, I am seeing the message: "Update is underway, please keep the device on and plugged in." This message has been displayed for several hours now. Yesterday night, I waited for about two hours, but the update did not seem to proceed. I then decided to power off the system, and upon restarting, I noticed that my dual-boot Ubuntu option no longer appears. The system now directly boots into Windows without giving me the choice to

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Windows Update 1809 dual boot now corrupt

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are unable to do a dual boot after an update. To narrow down the cause we will require a few more information from you. Please reply to the following details:

• Which operating system was installed first?
  
• Do you see any error message when you try to boot to Linux?
  
• Are you able to see the Linux OS files in the partition?
  

You can check for the boot timeout option whether the time to boot to the default OS is changed to 0 seconds. To check that, please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Press and hold Windows + R key on the keyboard.
   
2. Type msconfig and click on OK.
   
3. Click on Boot tab.
   
4. Under timeout if you see time as 0 seconds then, change the time to at least 10 seconds.
   
5. Alternatively, you can check if Linux is listed or not.
   

Also, I suggest you to post a screenshot of Disk management with all the partitions.

Note: Make sure you don’t capture any personal information while taking screenshot.

Help on Dual Boot

I understand that you would like to dual boot the computer.

I would like to inform you that, it is possible to install Windows 10, only if Windows XP is preinstalled on the computer. If
you are trying to install Windows XP just to run a particular software, I suggest you to run the program in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

I suggest you to run the program in Compatibility mode, please follow the below steps:

1) Right click on the Program

2) Click on Properties

3) Click on Compatibility tab

4) Select Run this program in compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list.
