Windows 10: Help selecting an edition for call center use?

TL;DR: I need help choosing between the standard Enterprise version, or an SAC, or LTSC release for a call center's backup machines. Thanks.


Unfortunately, I have become known as "the computer guy" at a small nonprofit I volunteer for. (You know how it goes.) I've been asked to help them setup failsafe measures for their small call center. It's nothing too serious; a small Ubiquiti-based LAN, a couple UPSs, and a tiny fleet of ~10 (thankfully identical) backup notebooks.

The problem is, I'm a Linux guy who bailed on the MS ecosystem a decade ago, and the telephony system in use here requires W10. I'm not too worried; I'm only responsible for the backup laptops' OS installation and setup, and creating an automated "factory restore" solution (probably via Clonezilla). But, I'm not sure which edition to use here, and I'd like some guidance.

  These systems will be configured, then stored until needed in the event of an emergency. We're expecting one, maybe two uses per year.

  These machines will be used by random volunteers, not professionals.
  
  
• 
  The only application volunteers will need (or will be permitted to use) is Chrome.

  Reliability, ease, and speed of deployment in an emergency is of paramount importance. Users need to be able to simply power the machines on, connect to the wireless AP, launch Chrome, and go. Unforeseen delays due to mandatory updates, reboots, crapware notification and nags, et cetera, will be a problem.

  "Bundled software" and crapware may (?) also be a security/privacy issue; the organization is subject to HIPAA and other similar regulations, and they're pretty serious about it.
  
  
• 
  They gave me less than one week's notice to do this shit.
  

Is this a situation where an SAC, or even an LTSC release might be applicable? While I have certainly read the official MS guidelines on these two products, as well as some of the numerous discussions on the potential merits thereof, whatever expertise I may have been able to claim with this platform is now so expired, I am not confident in my decisions here. To be frank: I'm out of my depth, but I've not been given enough time to rectify it.

In regard to your DVD Rom drive - go to -control panel/device manager/DVD/CD-ROM drives -make a note of the make and model number Example: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-215D ATA Device - highlight the device you have installed -press right mouse button-select properties-details-property and select Install Date from the drop down list and let us know this.

How do I correct Mobility Center display selection problem

Hi,

Thank you for providing us more information,

By trying the below step Windows Mobility Center will be disabled and you will not be able to use it. To be able to use it again you will have to follow the same steps instead of Enable you will have to select Disable in option
e.

Using the Group Policy Editor

If your edition of Windows includes the Group Policy Editor snap-in (gpedit.msc), follow these steps:

• Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER
• Expand User Configuration: User Configuration->Administrative Templates-> Windows Components->Windows Mobility Center
• In the right pane, right click on Turn off Windows Mobility Center and click on Edit.
• To Disable Windows Mobility Center
• select the option Enable
• Click on OK.
• Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.

If you do not have gpedit.msc in your computer, then you may follow the below mentioned steps to disable it through registry editor:

Why does action center keep poping up when I click the touchpad?

To assist you better regarding your concern with the action center, we suggest that you follow these steps and see if it'll help resolves the concern:

  Right the Windows icon.
  
• 
  Select Device Manager.
  
• 
  Right click on Touchpad, then select Disable.
  
• 
  Confirm selection - touchpad is disabled
  
• 
  Repeat the steps, this time select Enable Touchpad.
