  1. Help: Slow boot after cooler swap

    Just recently i swapped the stock Ryzen 5 3600x cooler for the new BeQuiet Shadow Rock 3.

    I took the Cpu out of the sockle to clean of the old thermal paste, put it back in and applied the new paste.

    Ever since then the Boot times have significantly increased from around 30 sec before the swap to 2-5 min after the swap.

    It posts fine in about the same time but even getting to the BIOS "splash screen" and getting into the bios it self takes much longer than it should.

    The system performs fine as soon as i get to windows and the temperatures are much better (as expected, though the idle is about 5°C higher than before.)

    i have no idea what could have caused the boot times to increase, any help is appericiated.

    System Info:

    Ryzen 5 3600x (no OC)

    GTX 1660 Super (no OC)

    MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX

    16 GB (2x8) Crucial Ballistix Sport LT V2 DDR4 3200 MHz (XMP profile set to 3200 instead of default 2400)

    Crucial MX500 500GB boot drive

    Win10 Slow boot time. Help debug with Windows Performance Analyzer

    Hi,

    I think that the issue is caused by the "Generic HDD SCSI Disk Device" driver

    Help: Slow boot after cooler swap [IMG]

    you have 8 disk drive attached to your computer:
    1. Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB
    2. Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
    3. ST4000DM004-2CV104
    4. TOSHIBA DT01ACA200
    5. WDC WD20EARX-008FB0
    6. Generic HDD SCSI Disk Device
    7. Seagate BUP BK SCSI Disk Device
    8. Kingston DT Elite G2 USB Device

    I would suggest you uninstall the Generic driver from the device manager;
    • Open device manager and display the hidden devices;
    • Generic "HDD SCSI Disk Device" under disk driver and uninstall it.

    Need Help with "Ejectable" CPU Cooler

    Thanks a lot to both of your responses and the swiftness of your answers! I really appreciate it.

    I can't seem to figure out how to @ mention users on here, so I hope that the two of you are notified of my reply.

    @Greg Carmack

    Unfortunately, the link that you provided did not resolve my issue, as the cooler does not appear as a drive in File Explorer or Disk Management.

    @Abhishek Das

    I don't have another CPU cooler to test. The CPU cooler is not showing as a storage device in Device Manager. It's showing as one of the USB devices. Do you suggest that I flash the motherboard in the BIOS? This is out of the question. There are no pending
    updates. I just checked manually.
