Windows 10: Help - surface pro 4 internet slow

Hi, I have a Microsoft surface pro 4 machine. Last week I installed Panda Dome antivirus and Malwarebytes because I had some viruses like mail.Ru etc that kept coming back.

I wanted to trial the product to possibly purchase it. So I activated the free VPN that comes along with panda .. Ever since then, my internet is really slow sometimes even slower than 0.1 mb/s.. Whilst all my other devices using the same network are really fast.. I deactivated that vpn, ive uninstalled panda.. Ive even re-installed Windows and I've also dual boot loaded linux and tried the Internet there..

I've updated the drivers, changed the regedit and did this:

"1. Press Windows key + R for Run.

   And then type regedit and then Enter.
2. 
   Navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\mrvlpcie8897
3. 
   Find the item labeled "TXAMSDU." Double tap and modify the value from 1 to 0
4. 
   Restart the machine."

. But its still ridiculously slow...

Ive updated the drivers, did everything I could find on the internet but still have not found a solution..

Surface Pro 4 WiFi Slow Connectivity

Hello there,

After rattling my brains over what it may be I found my own solution.

I did the registry changes suggested on the internet - no fix

I did the driver rollback/uninstall/reinstall - no fix

I changed the wifi driver band from auto 2.4ghz/5ghz - no fix

What fixed it for me was going to my router settings and changing it from Long Preamble to short pre amble.

Went from 1mbps to 30mbps (my limit from where i am from)

Hope this helps. My router is a netgear.

Changing the Preamble on my Nighthawk router fixed my slow wifi on my SP4 also. THANKS!!!!!

The main causes observed so far are driver issues, so I suggest you to install and update all the drivers and see if it helps.

I would also suggest you to install all Windows update and check.

Follow the steps:

2. Click on “Update and Security”.

3. Click on “Check for Updates”.

4. Read and accept the license terms, and then tap or click Finish if the update requires it.
