Windows 10: Help wiht System Restore

Not sure if any one is able to answer this one. I have an old comptuter using Microsoft XP which I need for access to programs which do not run on up-to-date windows operating systems. It is using Service pack 2 but I need to update to Service pack 3 for another programme. If I create a restore point, install Service Pack 3, if I need to restore to the earler date will this remove the service pack 3 installation. Tinnking ahead that problems will be encountered.If anyone is still able to help with XP this would be gratefully receive.

I suggest you to perform system restore by going to safe mode and check if it helps.

Follow the steps below.

• 
  In login screen at the bottom right corner select
  restart the system by press and hold Shift key.
  
• 
  Under choose an option select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select advanced option.
  
• 
  Select System restore and check if it helps.

System restore got stuck

I appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down to the issue.

• What was the exact issue that you were facing that lead to perform restore?
• Did you receive any error message, when the system restore got stuck?
• Did you install any third party security application?

Since the computer is being stuck, I suggest you to restart the computer and try to perform the restore again and check if it helps.

I also suggest you to provide more information regarding the issue which led to perform system restore along with the make and model of the computer.
