Windows 10: Help With A Primary Partition - Unable to perform operations on a disk partition

Hi,My laptop has a 1tb hdd and a 500gb ssd. I wanted to dual boot my laptop with ubunto and therefore made a partition for around a 100gb and decided to install ubunto on it. I had successfully installed ubunto on my hdd but found to be quite slow therefore thought of uninstalling this one and re installing it on my ssd. When I opened the disk management to delete that 100gb partition, I ain't getting any option other than help. Even the diskpart on the terminal isn't able to delete that partition.I have also used a 3rd party software AOMEI and it doesn't seem to detect that particular partiti

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

 

Proper HDD partitioning for Win7 reistall

if you are gonna partition with the fresh install of windows, not worried about keeping any previous data, once the disks are partitioned then why would you need to refer to my further suggestion above ref the disk manager?? your data will already be on a seperate partion, if not, just cnp it there!

any further installations will be to the primary partition and any data on the secondary partition will stay intact

Hi, I'm Lyle

I formatted my Hd, and installed 10 from a thumb drive. (I messed up) I went to Disk Management and saw I had installed 10 on a whole disk partition. (Works Great) I installed a partition to give myself room. Now I see 7 primary partitions.

1 OEM

4 RECOVERY

1 BOOT, PAGE FILE, CRASH DUMP, PRIMARY

1 EFI SYSTEM PARTITION

I plugged in a USB Backup Drive. Disk Management called it a Primary Partition. I don't what to do now. Would converting to a Dynamic Disk work, Or should I learn how to install from a Thumb Drive? Help
