Help with drop in network speeds

    Hi All,

I'm looking for some help with my laptops connection, regardless of whether I use Wifi or Ethernet, it seems to not go faster than 150mbps. I know for a fact a few months back it would easily reach 250mbps on Wifi alone.

I have a Killer E3000 Ethernet controller and the Intel AX200 Wifi card. Ethernet shows the connection as 1000/1000 (Mbps) for Link Speed in network properties and Adapter settings shows the speed at 1.0 Gbps.

My ISP speed is 350mbps, however, my phone which sits next to my laptop can achieve 378mbps over wifi. Connecting the laptop to Wifi I consistently see 130-145mbps, which is great but I'm trying to work out why its all of a sudden 100mbps less than it used to be.

I have PowerLine adapters which I have always had (these are what previously gave me 250mbps via ethernet), so I upgraded the cable to CAT6 but still cannot achieve greater than 150mbps.

    Diagnosis steps:

    Upgraded ethernet cable to CAT6.
Disabled Windows autotuning of the network using - netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
    Connected direct to the router
Changed EEE Max Support Speed of ethernet adapter to 2.5Gbps Full Duplex
Changed Speed and Duplex of ethernet adapter to 2.5Gbps Full Duplex
Changed Preferred Band of Wifi adapter to 5GHz
Installed ESET Internet Security and done away with Windows Defender / Security

Is there something else I can check or settings I can change to work out why I'm limited to 150mbps across both connections? Even connected directly to the router I get 150mbps.

I'd rather not have to reinstall Windows and start from scratch again, I seem to be doing this every other week *Sad

I really appreciate any help you guys can offer.

    :)

  4. Help with drop in network speeds

Windows 10 Network speed drop off when copying files

    This is a constant problem.

when copying files from ComputerA to ComputerB, both on the same network, the speed starts off at 10mb, which is nice and fast, then about 30 seconds in it drops off to 150-900k and stays there.

    why does this happen?

Help with drop in network speeds b6284c76-6535-4726-87d7-47dd701c798b?upload=true.png

A few things I have tried:

    1. I made sure nothing else is using my network, no internet activity, no devices, ect...
    2. I made sure both computers on the network are properly networked with permissions and accounts.
    3. My router is blazing fast, my internet speeds are 1gbps
    4. Tried testing both TO and FROM computer A and B
    5. I have no "low power" settings on either computer, both are using maximum performance in every setting including advanced settings
    6. Neither computer is 'asleep', the HD and the system are both fully live and active
The problem is not intermittent, it is constant - at about 30-45 seconds the speed always drops off.

    Any ideas?
