Help with Family Safety error - Child needs to sign in again on Windows to verify their account

I have Microsoft 365 for family use. I have two children on the account and we have been using the Family Safety features for several years without any issue, until recently. In the past several months, Family Safety is now giving me error messages:"[Child's Name] needs to sign in again on Windows Computer Name to verify their account."The error is repeated for each computer we own Windows 10 and 11, as well as for our Xbox Series X. The error is visible when I log in to the Family Safety section of Microsoft's website, and it is also at the top of the weekly emails they send me about m

  2. Family Safety - add device to child profile

Since this is the case and you have ensured the settings are correctly setup in family Safety, we suggest that you sign in using your main account and remove you child's account from Family Safety list. (Refer to the image below for reference.)

After completing the steps, attempt to use the email address of your child to login to the computer and see if the same error message still shows up. If the error no longer shows up, we suggest that you attempt to add the account back then to Family safety.

    Regards.

Windows 10 Family Safety time limits not working

I had this exact problem and these are the steps I took to get the issue resolved:

    • Navigate to family safety settings and remove the child from the family having issues.
    • Login to the childs account and launch Settings (windows key + i)
    • Click the Accounts icon and select Sign in with local account instead
    • Follow the steps to change to a local account. When completed, Login back to your account (admin account)
    • Go back to the family safety settings and add your child back to the family group.
    • Access your childs email address to accept the family invitation
    • Verify the child now shows properly in the family settings and that the screen times are still correct.
    • Login to the childs account and launch Settings (windows key + i)
    • Click the Accounts icon and select Sign in with microsoft account instead
    • Your family settings should now take affect.

I know this is pretty tedious, but like I said, it worked for me. If you are still having trouble, I suggest contacting support and they can help walk you through the steps to get it resolved.

Family Safety - add device to child profile

    Hi,

There are different factors that can contribute as why you are not able to add a Microsoft account as a child account in Family Safety. This could be caused by the account settings that we need to reconfigure or the type of account being used. For us to
resolve your concern, kindly answer the questions below:

    • Were there any error messages when you attempted to add the Microsoft account to Family Safety?
    • What error messages showed up when your children attempted to login to the computer?

For your reference, you can verify the steps to set up Family Safety in Windows 10 that is available through this

    link
    .

We look forward to your response to our queries.
