I want to transfer my profile from my Win 10 Pro to my Win 11 Pro machine, so that files from the old will keep the same permissions on the new.My idea is, when the transfer of the account profile is complete, then the I transfer files from old to new - the permissions in the old will perfectly match my usage and the system usage on the new machine.I admit to not being an expert. What I'm trying to avoid: in using past machine-to-machine copies I've not always been able to access newly copied files. In those times, I did not try to transfer my machine signin/login profile. Now realizing the

  2. Win 10 Pro account management

    hi, all --

I just bought my wife a new Dell laptop with Win 10 Pro installed. She has signed in as herself, with her email address. This first account has admin privileges. How do I create a second USER account for her? Win 10 does not permit the same email address
    on two accounts.

(Previously, we would have an admin account solely for installs / uninstalls, etc., and other strictly user accounts for normal, day-to-day working. Is there a new model here?)

And the next step will be copying/migrating her user profile from the older Win 7 Pro laptop to the new. Is there anything about user accounts that would matter for this?

    Thanks in advance,

  3. How to migrate to a new HDD

My HP Envy 23 all in one 10 pt touch screen began giving me the ol Smart drive detects imminent HDD Failure.

So I got a new 1 TB drive and everything is backed up on another external drive.

How do I migrate to a new drive all my windows account settings?

If I use the on-board recovery it will load and install the original Win 8.1. I had upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. So do I need to just use my old win pro disk and reinstall windows and all my programs again?

Is there anyway to image the whole drive with all my programs, registry files and the lot and paste it onto the new drive?

Any easier suggestions than reinstalling everything would be great?

Anyone know how to do this?

    Thanks Chette
