  1. Help with onedrive on two devices

Hi, I just got a new laptop for freelance work. My onedrive account moved all of my files from my personal laptop. I want to keep some of them but remove the rest from this new laptop. And then I want to remove those files the ones I'm keeping on New Laptop, from the old laptop to free up space there.

I would like both computers to sync to onedrive, but to keep my files separate on each one.

    Things I tried:

-I tried "stop syncing" in a folder. Then I deleted the items in the folder that I didn't want. I looked on the old laptop, though, and it had deleted them from there too. I only wanted to delete them from the new laptop. And if I do unsync them, does that mean they won't be on onedrive at all? I just want to remove them from the new computer.

-I went to the settings to choose which folders are available on this computer, and one of them is Documents. When I tried to Unselect it, I got a message saying this is an important folder etc and it wouldn't let me unselect it. There are huge files in there that would take forever to move to a different folder, so I'm hoping for a way to just stop it. If that's not possible and I do have to move it to a different folder, I suppose that's fine, but does that mean nothing in my documents folder on either computer would ever get synced to onedrive again? I'm confused.

    Thank you for any assistance!!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

  3. Remove Devices

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues while removing the device from your Microsoft account as it keeps popping back after removing.

It could be possible that the device was using OneDrive with the same Microsoft account and that might be the reason you are able to see the device listed under your profile. I would suggest you to remove the device from OneDrive
    and see if that helps.

You can follow the steps to remove the device from OneDrive.

    1. Login to
      https://onedrive.live.com
      .
    2. Now on the left hand pane click on PC’s.
    3. Now click on the devices that are listed under PC’s and on the right hand side click on
      Remove PC.

If the issue persists, please get back to us with the results of the troubleshooting steps to assist you further.
