Windows 10: Help with possible profile corruption on windows 11

So as the title says I may be experiencing profile corruption on this computer. I've tried on another profile and had no issues. Tried running the sfc scans and even the DISM healthchecks and restores. That unfortunately didn't work, the only temporary fix I found is adding the corrupted profile to the power users group or "Utilisateurs avec pouvoir" in french. The issue I have with this fix is that in my context this computer is to be used by students occasionally and I cannot give them rights to download apps and such. This isn't the first time we notice this error as 3 other computer suffer

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

 

Corrupted User Profile

Hi,

There maybe a couple of reasons behind this misbehavior such as a corrupted system file. However, we would like to be able to verify which process exactly is corrupted.

• When you install, does it give you any form of error message when it fails?
• What other processes doesn't go through on the said User account?

just to give you a heads up. The steps are about creating a new user profile and deleting the current one. I suggest you back up your files so you may be able to transfer it. You can also find information about it on the same thread.
