Windows 10: Help with Printer Driver in S Mode Windows 10

Hi thereLong time user of Microsoft products but first time user of the Microsoft Community. I have just purchased a new laptop that has Windows 10 S Mode installed. I would like to use my current printer Canon MX475 Series with the new laptop, however due to S Mode I am unable to download the driver to use the printer. Without disabling the S Mode, is there a way around this?If not, how do I solve this issue happening with any printer on a laptop with S Mode?Many thanks Al

Method 1:

I suggest you to try running Printer troubleshooter and check if it fixes the issue. To do so kindly follow the below given steps:

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Printer.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
• Check if issue persists.

Method 2:

This issue may arise due to printer’s driver incompatibility with Windows 10. I suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it helps.
To do so kindly follow the below given steps:

• Right click on printer’s driver that you have downloaded from manufacturer website.
  
• Click/tap on Properties.
• Check the Run this program in Compatibility mode for under
  Compatibility tab
• Select Windows 8.1/8 from the drop down under
  Compatibility mode section.
• Click on Apply and Ok.
• Install the drivers, restart PC and check if issue is resolved.

• Have you run the printer troubleshooter from the previous suggestion?

Since the printer driver is not available for Windows 10, I suggest you to install the driver in compatibility mode from previous version of Windows and check if it helps.

Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

• Download the latest and available driver from the manufacturer’s website.
• Uninstall the existing network driver from your PC through Control Panel.
• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on
  ‘Properties’.
• Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab and check the box
  ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select
  Windows 8/8.1 or 7 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
