    Registry target field

The information about a shortcut's target field is not stored in the registry; like the shortcut's other properties, it's stored internally as 'Target path' metadata in the .LNK file itself. You can view (but not amend) .LNK file metadata using digital forensic software tools like Belkasoft Evidence Center. To amend the metadata programmatically, try using PowerShell. This old Change Shortcut Target path - Powershell TechNet post shows how to use WSHShell to write the TargetPath parameter. Hope this helps...

Need syntax for changing screen resolution using parameter in Target field of desktop shortcut

I want to know what the syntax is to change the desktop resolution from within a shortcut on the desktop. It's a parameter that follows the .exe location in the Target field of the desktop shortcut. I need to know what the parameter is to change the screen resolution and how to put it into the Target field correctly.

    For instance: "C:\foo\blah.exe -x1920x1080".

I'm running a 4K desktop, and if I change my screen resolution for everything, it'll ruin everything I've set up. I only want to change the resolution for that program, and to only do it loading the program in the shortcut, not change my desktop settings. Can anyone help me?
