    Help with turning on Lenovo laptop from external keyboard


    I have a two year old Lenovo laptop and have recently got a monitor and keyboard/mouse. I am able to wake up my laptop from sleep using the keyboard and mouse, but I am trying to turn on the laptop from a keyboard command.

    With the keyboard I have, I can create a macro key, but power on is not one of the built in features. Is there any way to turn on the pc with either a keyboard shortcut (ex: control shift m) or using the SteelSeries Engine software?

    Windows 10 Laptop Keyboard Keys Acting Strange

    Hi,

    I realize that you are facing issues with the keyboard on your PC. I will try to help you with this issue.

    Suggest you to plug in an external keyboard to the laptop to check if that helps.

    Further you may also use the onscreen keyboard to check if that helps.

    Follow these steps to launch the On-screen keyboard:


    • Press Windows key + R to get the run window.

    • Type “osk” and hit enter to launch the On-screen keyboard and check if this helps.

    Help me choose between these laptops.

    The HP and Lenovo have faster processors, but the GE40 has a one step up GPU, however it's a smaller screen size, so the keyboard would be smaller as well. Do you plan to use an external monitor at all?

    I know it depends on the make of the laptop but I would like to know if it is possible to turn on a laptop with an external keyboard.
