Windows 10: Help with USB port.

I have a Samsung USB3 flash drive that stopped being recognized on one of the USB ports on my desktop computer.

The drive is recognized on different USB ports of the same computer, no problem. Also, other flash drives work fine on the one USB port in question, so the port itself is functional. It's just the combination of the one port with the one flash drive that doesn't work.

I remember some years ago I had something similar happen on a Windows 7 machine and there was a procedure to un-blacklist a flash drive for a given USB port.

I searched, but I can't find that procedure anywhere. All I get is the typical disabling and re-enabling of USB root hubs in Device Manager, which don't help with my problem.

Can anyone think of the solution?

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
