Windows 10: Help with widows update

My hard drive is out of space and I can't do any winows updates. I bought an external SSD a and a 60 GB SD card hoping to go along with windows automatic solution to low disk space but Windows won't take either as an option for additional storage during the wizard. I tried changing the folder for windows update using an article I found online https://www.howtogeek.com/393423/how-to-change-windows-10-updates-download-folder-location/. I get an error message, 0x80080005, whenever I go into settings to check for updates. Additionally, Windows already had windows update stopped in task manager services. I had to go into the services app and disable it to complete the steps in the article. I then go back in to set it back to automatically. then when I check for updates I get the above message. I went back into task manager and saw it was stopped. I tried starting windows update from task manager and it just flashed and went back to stopped. I went into services where it was still set to automatic. I went into the properties and tried starting it but got an error saying that I had an incorrect syntax. I'm lost. Everything I've done seems like it should be working.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
