Windows 10: Here's why we want the Win10 usability EXACTLY like it used to be

Discus and support Here's why we want the Win10 usability EXACTLY like it used to be in Windows 10 Customization to solve the problem; I tried using backups and complete system images, no can do . I have no idea why it doesn't work because it worked when i tried it during the 30 day... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Customization' started by customfunctiona, Sep 14, 2015.

Did you have a instillation DVD for your previous OS?? If not then why didn't you??

I think I heard that there are now about 50 million computers running Windows 10 now.

But... I guess they all must hate working with it since it's not the royal Windows 7, or maybe, just maybe they can accept change.

    *Cough* Unlike the OP *Cough*

By the way, anyone else pissed that Windows 10 doesn't look and feel like Windows 3.0? *Rolleyes

You are a hard bunny to please. Which OS do you really like?? It seems you passed over 8.1 which IMO was/is a great OS and when you add Classic Shell to it was just about perfect.

My interpretation of your OP and subsequent posts leads me to feel that you're hung up on the UI more than the actual functionality of any of Windows OS's you listed. I can agree that a pleasant UI is helpful it's not the key reason I use any OS. I chose one to be a tool for me to run programs/apps that I need on a daily basis. And right now 10 has the combination of a nice UI and a very platform for me to run the programs/apps that I use.

And as for searching for alternatives.. well there is Apple(OSx) and the various distributions of Linux.. but lately most of them resemble Windows. So from what I can tell your best option may be to write your own OS.. or better yet team up with a group and write a totally new OS based on .. Unix.

    Anyway...
    That's my 2c on this..

I lost the ability to roll back as well. I spent nigh on two years with 8.1 and foolishly allowed my system to "upgrade" to 10.
I pondered over the new "modern UI" [just because it's newer does not automatically make it "better"] but longed for a return to 7.
So I purchased a 7 pro. 64bit MAR version of windows [genuine copy only £29 from a Microsoft Authorised Reseller] wiped my SSD drive and installed the "new" system. reinstalling all my data from back-ups.
Umpteen updates later I have returned to the fold and very pleased I am as well. Go with whatever suits YOU. no one is forced to use any operating system be it MS or otherwise.

I agree.. use the OS that makes you happy and get the job done for you. For me an OS is just a tool to run programs and I don't get that hung up about the UI/aesthetics. The main thing with any OS is to know how to restore the OS back to it's original state if something should go wrong. Having an instillation DVD is essential IMO and it's always the best way to reinstall any OS.

Like i said , if i could roll back i would , on another note , it's OK if you don't get why people are focusing on the UI of an OS , i think the point is that people are and it's perfectly OK to do so.

I will never understand why people "follow" other people on "Twitter "and "Facebook" but they do and thats OK .

Can I ask when you made your backup of your previous OS before going to Windows 10, what backup program did you use?

One of the most ridiculous complaints I have read! First (the red font in the above quote), you are complaining about some missing eye candy. Then, the next sentence (in green font), you state that it should be about productivity. For your information, nice visual 3D effects making the desktop blink and glitter is not productive. The more productivity you want to emphasize, the simpler desktop you have.

Please decide: Eye candy or productivity?

I got images going way back of Win 7 , i never liked any of those Macrium programs etc.. , i have always used "Windows system image" and it's always worked fine but after the 30 days i couldn't restore anymore . Before 30 days no issues.

Ok fredc, I understand. We all have our favorite ways to make our system image backups. Me, I never trusted windows to make my backups. I've always used Acronis True Image for all my image backups, since 2009 to date. Has never failed me, but its not a free app. That might be why in my case I can still go back to my Windows 7 Ultimate, if I wanted too. I made that image on 7-29-15 right before I installed windows 10 Pro. But we all like our own choices for backups and whatever works for that person is just fine with me. Take Care fredc.
