Discus and support HEVC and HEIC codec download in Windows 10 Ask Insider to solve the problem; Is there anyway to get an old school download of the hevc/heic codec so I can view photos/videos on my pc?     Is there anyway to get an old school download of the hevc/heic codec so I can view photos/videos on my pc? Windows wants to pay via the Microsoft Store.

    Downloading HEVC/HEIC extension

    Hi ,

    I am Ivan, I will help you with this.

    So you can't install the HEIF and HEVC extension from the Microsoft Store, thus having difficulty opening the files.

    You can download the extension packages offline from APPX and install them directly.

    Another would be to download the K-lite Codec pack and use the k-lite player to open the files in HEVC and HEIC using third-party software Photo Viewer.

    HEIC Files not opening despite both Codecs

    I have installed Windows 10, downloaded the HEVC and HEIC APPXbundle files, installed using Powershell but I still cannot view HEIC files in File Explorer or in Photos or Photo Viewer. If I install CopyTRANS it works but that isn't free for Business.

    Are there any other tricks or is the codec pack just bugged? HEIC has been around for YEARS.
