Windows 10: HEVC/H265 videos are no longer showing thumbnails, perhaps starting after installing the...

Title pretty much explains everything. My .mp4 videos shot in HEVC/H265 in HDR10+ used to show thumbnails, but I noticed a few days ago that they stopped showing them. I've deleted the thumbnail cache to try to regenerate the thumbnails, but it didn't work. I've downloaded the HEVC extension in an attempt to solve the problem for $1, https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nmzlz57r3t7?hl=en-US&gl=US, but that did nothing either. I've changed the file type that .mp4's open with, from using Movies & TV, the Photos App, Media Player, Clipchamp, but still nothing. I've restarted the comput

New incoming HEVC Main10 video no longer shows thumbnails in File Explorer

I've installed the HEVC Video Extensions on my Windows 10. The installed version is 2.1.1161.0.

I noticed that my HEVC Main10 video no longer shows thumbnails in File Explorer for new incoming files. It worked fine a few weeks ago.

I found another PC with an older version of the extension (2.1.41.0) and it does show the thumbnail for the same video. After a Windows update, it failed as well.

 

Windows 11 HEVC/H265 problems

Videos are playing without issues, Windows h265 hevc codecs purchased two years back from Microsoft store.

My PC won't generate thumbnails for HEVC videos anymore

My PC previously would generate thumbnails for HEVC (265) videos. It suddenly stopped I don't know why. I cleared the thumbnail cache and now HEVC (265) Some of the HEVC videos got their thumbnails back, but most didn't. 264 videos and photos generate thumbnails just fine. It is just most of the HEVC (265) videos that will not make thumbnails.
