Windows 10: HEVC Video Extension Not Working

Hi there Yesterday I purchased the HEVC Image Extenion for €1 in the Microsoft Store yesterday.I have recorded lots of footage with my DJI Mini 3 Pro in h.265, MP4, 4K, 10 bit colour. But I am still unable to open these images even after installing the extension. However I can open videos that are in 8 bit.Is 10 bit colour not supported with HEVC and is ther anyway to add this support?They open normally in VLC also.Thanks

HEVC Video extension not installing

Hi,

I am trying to view HEIC image files on my Windows 10 PC

I installed HEIF extension from Microsoft Store, it installed properly, but still Photos app is showing only blurry images.

Upon googling i saw advice to install HEVC Video extension too.

I bought HEVC Video extension from the Microsoft Store and when click on "Install" nothing happens and HEVC is not listed in the Apps & Features list. (HEIF extension is present in this list)

When i select the three dots near the "Install" button i was given the list of machines i want the extension to be installed on. When i select the machine i am trying to install on, all i get is the message saying that "We will attempt to install the extension on the machine you requested" but no action

Is there a way for me to get the binary myself and install it manually instead of relying on some auto install program?

I have already wasted 2 days trying to view HEIC files on Windows 10.

Get HEVC Video Extensions from Device Manufacturer from the Microsoft Store

Why is it no longer available? Does MS plan to make it available again? It was available up until about a month ago.

  in Windows search/Run command)
• What is the make and model of the PC?
• Where are you getting HEVC Video Extensions from Device Manufacturer showing as temporarily unavailable?

If you want to install HEVC Video Extensions, then refer to

Microsoft Store.
