    hey guys my chkdsk is taking so long


    hey guys why is my chkdsk taking so long its been 11 hours since im running the chkdsk im running it since my pc says pred fail which is hard disk is corrupted after i press ctrl shift win b pls help me to figure out this problem really fast pls

    How long should CHKDSK /R take?

    i'd suggest grabbing a few beers and a movie. it could take several hours.

    Chkdsk is taking too long

    My harddisk was taking too long to respond and copy stuff. So I formatted the hard drive using cmd prompt and it went successful but then I am running the chkdsk E: /f /r /x ( E: is the external harddrive). Now its at stage 5 and have 244157287 cluster to read and it is showing me that its going to take about a month to fully read it. What should do in this situation ?

    CHKDSK Taking Too Long

    Your proposed solution makes no sense. A fan typically makes noise when it has excessive dust and dirt that needs to be cleaned out.The CHKDSK utility checks for logical errors on the hard disk.

    Given the typical (large) size of modern hard drives, it's possible that the CHKDSK command could take hours to complete.
