Windows 10: Hi all, will the Intel i7 3820QM CPU ever be added on the approved list for Windows 11?

My machine is still running great and it is so sorry to discard it for this reason.

Windows 11 Approved processor list

Hi

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the rules are for being on the 'Approved List' of processors to download Windows 11 via Windows Update.

According to Microsoft, the minimum requirements are:

- 1 Ghz

- 4GB RAM

- 2 cores

- being on approved list of CPUs

My laptop easily meets this:

-Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4712HQ CPU 2.30Ghz

-4 cores

- 8 logical processors

- i7-4712HW 2.3ghz

- 16 GB RAM

But because

- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4712HQ CPU 2.30Ghz



isn't on the 'approved list' I can't download it via Windows update. I know there are various registry changes you can make that apparently bypass this check, but is there a real technical reason for excluding some Intel Core i7 processors or is it a bug? I can't see why my laptop can't run Windows 11?!!

unable to up date to window 11. my CPU is listed in approved list of CPU .Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.60 GHz

I have Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.60 GHz processsor, but unable to update to window 11 and it shows that it is not supported for upgrade. it is there in supported list of CPU . please help.

 

Intel CPU not supported in Windows 11

I see that the Intel Core i7-5500u 2.4Ghz is not supported in Windows 11. I see other Intel CPUs listed with less overall power than the i7. Does MS have any plans to expand the CPU supported list?
