After the restart, the PC would freeze again and I have to restart it a second time. Once it boots up, it wouldn't freeze anymore and works fine, with some performance dip, though it is likely to be the slower ram speed. The

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

As you have tried most of the above troubleshooting steps like Clean boot, SFC scan, installing pending updates, DISM and still the issue persists, try the below and check.

  Is there any error code/ error message when the system freezes?

  Have you installed any third party anti-virus software on your computer?
  

I suggest you to Try to log-in with Safe mode, restart the computer in safe mode and check if the issue persists.
