Noob Question About Mic Setup

My mic will not register that i am talking into it even tho it shows up in the 'recording devices.' I have it set on default

- i have tried using it on another windows 10 laptop and it instantly works
-I have updated all drivers through MSI
- I have uninstalled sound drivers/mic drivers in device manager and reset
- i have tried updating drivers in device manager and resetting
- i have tried different ports
- i have checked to see if it was muted and increased the boost in mic properties
- i have tried troubleshooting in hardware and sound
- I have tried reinstalling all windows updates
- I have tried 'set up mic function' it doesn't pick up any noise
- i have tried calling microsoft and msi tech support, Microsoft wants a 100 usd for 'real' tech support msi couldnt help me and suggested more of the same
- i have tried mostly all the troubleshooting on google results and many YT videos suggesting the same things listed above

After the MSI Live Updated it now notifies me that i have plugged it an and i can see what slot it is plugged into in realtek sound manager but still no green bars in 'recording devices' when i talk into it.

I have completely exhausted my personal capabilities i don't wanna cave and give Microsoft another $100 for them to tell me: reinstall windows, that is not a 'fix' in my book

Please help any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Laptop fan spins up to max for no obvious reason

As stated above.

In viewing task manager I tend to see nothing obvious that could be the cause though occassionally something like below occurs.



Once the fan gets going it doesn't appear as if it will stop until I shut my laptop down fully.

Checked my fan physically and no dust.

Replaced thermal compound between cpu and heat sink.

Scanned with windows defender and malwarebytes to find nothing.

Appears to ramp up randomly. Played an intensive game without issue.

I figured it might be related to using my browser - Mozilla. Deleted all history/cookies etc, switched to edge.

Tried to eliminate as many programs to find anything to the point of resetting win10.

Not sure what to do now. Any ideas?

Disconnecting from internet = no change

Process explorer = 97-99% idle

Checking BIOS version = most up to date

Sent in support ticket - Awaiting response

Acquired SpeedFan - Unable to add any fan controller

Acquired NoteBook FanControl - Able to target fan speed in steps of 25%. Will spin up to max at any stepping other than 0%. Appears as if tilting my laptop can set the fan off to max. Currently using 0% target fan to bring it back down.

 

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
