Hi, I recently did a system restore on my HP laptop. But when it completed there is no wifi icon to connect to the internet, it states the diagnostics policy service is not running. Incoming connections, windows network diagnostics detects problem with network connectivity package version 4.0 microsoft windows. Incoming connections package version 3.0 find and fix problems with incoming computer connections and firewall. Why is this?

System restore will not complete

Hi, what exactly do you believe you've done? Clearing the cache should have no consequences, and is sometimes a fault-finding step. How did you do that?

Or do you mean you deleted a folder?

- this suggests something more serious is wrong. Could you post the exact message?

If you don't have a disk image you can restore (we constantly urge users to use disk imaging e.g. Macrium Reflect (free)) then try from an admin command prompt
SFC /SCANNOW
which might restore the missing file, depending on what it is.

Post back the result.

If it is successful, try System Restore again.

Best thing I can suggest is backup any files you want and do a complete OS reinstall.

 

HP Pavilion laptop wifi problems

Couple of things.

First, I'm almost positive that model of laptop was part of the big HP recall. The cooling was sub-par and the chipset had the problem with the solder failing due to heat.

Second, the WIFI starting to fail was an early sign that the laptop was close to dying.
