I have a windows 10 gaming pc that has connect to wireless display option and i am trying to use an old hp elitepad 900 running win 8.1 as secondary display.is it possible to do so if so how?

Okey. But can I install Windows 10 on it without any problem with Windows Update and installation of drivers?

I already have an Asus Eee slate EP121 Intel Core i5 PC tablet that came with Windows 7. I upgraded it to Windows 8 and its running fairly well but with about half the battery life if I am lucky. During heavy use it will probably only get about ~3hrs rather then ~5hrs. You almost always have to tradeoff performance for battery life though. I have a portable battery solution I can plug into it if necessary.
