Windows 10: Hi, if i reset my laptop to the factory setting will it remove the bios password as well

Hi, if i reset my laptop to factory settings will it also remove the bios password because i can't remember it.

I recently had to try that for real on a second hand Dell laptop I bought. It has a BIOS supervisor password set, without which I couldn't change any BIOS settings. Unfortunately the seller had no idea what the password was. No, removing all batteries including the CMOS battery then waiting half an hour did NOT reset the password. I had to call Dell support to get a one-time reset password to remove it. Some motherboards do have a password reset jumper, when bridged it will reset the bios passwords. You'll have to check you manual for that. I did, and mine didn't.

i could not figure out what forum this should go in, so feel free to move to whatever forum it should be in.
a friend just called, and said he has 2 daughters and 2 dell laptops. his daughters have lost the password to both laptops. is there a way to reset the password without a full reformat? he said his daughters have a lot of music, pictures, ect. and wants to avoid reinstalling windows.
i know that a long time ago there was a jumper on the motherboard that would reset the password on a regular pc. is there such a jumper on a laptop? or is there any free software that would let him reset the passwords? he can not afford a dell tech to fix, and i told him i would see if there was a way to reset it without a format. thanks!

laptop bios reset

I have been looking for a way to reset my friends nascar laptop (aopen openbook 2000) ... he changed a bios setting and put a password on it ... his keyboard we found is gltichy as when when he bought it he upgraded the ram and removed the keyboard... it wasn't sitting in the right spot so the password he put in it not the same ... i was wondering if anyone can find some info on this ... I have been googling for a few hours and I am at my witts end on this job.
