Windows 10: Hi Microsoft - Why have you set up Windows 11 so it prevents my chosen browser from opening...

I can set my default browser to Chrome in Windows 11 and restart my machine and when I go to my email, for about five minutes all is well. Then suddenly the links are disabled again and I either have to repeat the above, or I have to copy the links into Chrome to get them to open. This is tedious and unnecessary for me and incredibly petty and small minded for Microsoft. I have done my research and it would appear this is deliberate and your intention is to force people to use Edge. I don't like Edge, I have tried it and I wasn't impressed, so how do we fix this so that I can use Chrome withou

How to set Microsoft Edge as default browser.

Hi,

I would suggest you to try the steps below and check again.

1. Press Windows key + I to open settings.

2. Click System and click default apps.

3. Click web browser and select Microsoft edge.

• Do you facing this issue only with few sites or with all websites?
• Are you getting any error message when try to open?
• Are you able to use other browsers on your system?
• Is the Microsoft Edge Windows opens?

Step 1:

If Microsoft Edge browser opens, I would suggest you try clearing cache and cookies.

Follow the steps below:

• 
  Click on the More actions (…) icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
  
• 
  Select Settings and click on
  Choose what to clear.
  
• 
  Check the boxes Browsing history,
  Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and
  files and click on Clear.
  

Step 2: If the browser didn’t opens try running
System File Checker.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

To perform SFC Scan, refer to the below link:

Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.

• Go to Start > Settings > System.
• Choose Default apps, then scroll down to
  Web browser.
• Tap or click the browser that’s currently listed as your default, then choose Chrome from the list of apps
