Windows 10: Hi, my keyboard is not working and I can't sign in.

I tried plugging it to an external keyboard but it didn't work. And despite repeatedly putting my password right using the virtual keyboard, it said sign in option was disabled and I should try other ways to log in. The virtual keyboard option didn't show for the one time password sent to my microsoft account. Can microsoft lift the one time password requirement please?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: You may check if the ALT key is functioning correctly in on-screen keyboard. It will help us to verify if there is any issue with the keyboard.

Follow the steps below to open On-screen Keyboard.

  Windows + Q, type OSK (on-screen keyboard)
  
• 
  And check if it works
  

Step 2: Run Hardware and device Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Keyboard Not working in Windows 10

We would suggest you to update your keyboard driver. To update your keyboard driver, follow the steps below:

• Click the Start button, type "device manager" in the search box, and then select Device Manager.
• In the list of hardware categories, look for Keyboards and then double-click it.
• Click on the Keyboard tab and choose Update Driver, and then follow the instructions.

  What do you mean by ‘compromised the passcode’?
  
• 
  What is the make and model of your computer?
  
• 
  Have you checked with a different keyboard? What is the status?
  

As a work around, I suggest you to unplug and reconnect the keyboard from the system and check if it resolves the issue.



If the issue persists, I suggest you to use On Screen Keyboard and check if you are able to type the password correctly.

If you can sign in using On Screen Keyboard, I suggest you to download and install the latest chipset drivers from your computer manufacturer website and check if it resolve the issue.
