Windows 10: Hi, my laptop has an ssd that completely disappears spontaneously even while in use

It dissapears randomly and the only place I can still see it is bios, after I open bios it goes back to working, but restarting without bios won't fix it. I have no clue if it's a driver issue or what mostly because I have no clue how to update my drivers. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Drive D disappeared spontaneously on Alienware Laptop

Hello. My Drive D (pretty sure it is SSD) has disappeared on my laptop. Please note that it has also disappeared from disk management. There were no prior symptoms. It was simply missing when I started the computer this morning.I have important files on that drive.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Drive D disappeared spontaneously on Alienware Laptop

Hi, can only suggest the obvious possibilities: if a disk is not detected by Disk Management, it won't appear under File Explorer, either.

This could result from: 1). Problematic connection; 2). Outdated device driver; 3). Damaged drive.

You could try reseating the drive in its connector, or finding a way to connect it as a USB drive and see if it shows up.

I hope you have taken the important step to ensure you have a disk image of it, or other full backup.

(Disk imaging is recommended here time and again- e.g. Macrium reflect (free-paid) ).
