Hi. My motherboard on a brand new HP pc died and I used the cpu on a new motherboard. how can I transfer windows11 licence. I don't know the licence written anywhere and can not access to the old pc

Motherboard died... New licensed?

Hi. I am currently running windows 7 and it is/was my intention to stick with it at least until support for it finishes. My motherboards pcie port has died and rather than try and replace a 7 year old motherboard, i am replacing it with a current mobo/processor.
As far as i understand, my license is tied with the mobo. While i could possible simply transfer windows to the new* pc/drive, i would rather do a fresh install.

Do i have to purchase a new copy of windows (10)? Or is there a way to continue with win7?

Transfer Windows 10 to new motherboard

Hi,

I decided to upgrade my CPU and motherboard. I was running Windows 10 pre-installed when I bought the PC. Now I want to transfer it to my new motherboard. How do I do this? Unfortunately, I did not create a back-up prior to dis-assembling my old PC. Good
news is that Windows 10 is recognised in my MS account
