  1. Hidden CPU hogs

When high CPU usage is sapping a PC, I often can't find the cause in Task Manager. The total CPU use will be high, but no processes will be visible actually hogging the CPU. "Show all processes" or Resource Monitor don't reveal the culprit either.

What is usually going on in such scenarios? And are there tools to show what's going on in such cases, as simple as Task Manager?

  2. antimalware is hogging my cpu

    hello neilpzz,

I did that back on Monday... installed the free version of malwarebytes and Avast av. so far, so good. Avast (I guess) disabled windows defender and its 'antimalware' routine is no longer hogging my cpu,,, actually, I think that was disabled also.

I am okay with this fix, at least for now. so thank you.

btw, if I was to run windows defender av again would that re-enable the antimalware routine and hog the cpu again?

    happy thanksgiving!
